The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) has had a positive impact on student achievement, teacher retention, and professional development, according to the most rigorous and comprehensive study to date of National Board Certification.
The 2007 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching have recently been announced and more than one-third of the honorees selected are National Board Certified Teachers. The PAEMST program is administered by the National Science Foundation on behalf of the White House.
