Mississippi Candidate Financial Support

Mississippi is pleased to announce that funding is available to help offset the cost of the assessment fee. This funding is made possible through a Federal Subsidy grant from the United States Department of Education. Please read the information below for specific details, deadlines and contact information.

Funding Available

Funding Available - First-Time Candidates Federal Funding
The Mississippi Department of Education will utilize NBPTS Candidate Subsidy funds to support up to 25 candidates at 50 percent of the certification fee. The state will reimburse any public school teacher completing the National Board Certification process for the unsubsidized portion of the fee upon completion of the National Board Certification process. Candidates are responsible for submitting the unsubsidized portion of the fee with their applications. Candidates will be selected through five lottery pools (one pool for each of the state's four congressional districts). NOTE:  Various banks in Mississippi offer interest-free loans to teachers. Check with the local banks in your area of the state.

Deadline to apply: November 30, 2008

Funding Available Retake Candidates
If candidate subsidy funds are available, retake candidates who have not received prior subsidy funds, may be eligible to receive funds for up to two exercises.
