North Dakota Candidate Financial Support

North Dakota is pleased to announce that funding is available to help offset the cost of the assessment fee. This funding is made possible through a Federal Subsidy grant from the United States Department of Education. Incentives listed below are offered at the discretion of the individual local agencies or contracts and are subject to change. The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is not responsible for the accuracy of the information found herein. • North Dakota will pay an individual who received National Board Certification before July 1, 2007, one thousand dollars ($1,000) for each year the individual has maintained and continues to maintain National Board Certification, provided the individual continues to be employed by a school district in this state. An individual may not receive more than four thousand dollars ($4,000) under this subsection.

a. At the conlusion of each school year after an individual receives National Board Certification, the board shall pay to an individual an additional one thousand dollars ($1,000) for the life of the National Board Certification certificate if:

(1) The individual was employed during the school year as a full-time classroom teacher by a school district in this state; and

(2) The indiviudal participated in any efforts of the employing school district to develop and implement teacher mentoring programs. 

b. The payment provided for in this subsection is available beginning with the 2007-2008 school year. 

• The state of North Dakota has signed the 2005-2010 NASDTEC Interstate Contract and will award  a certificate to any person who has obtained National Board Certification in an area corresponding to that for which certification is sought, provided the applicant also holds a comparable and valid certificate issued by any Member state and has complied with any requirements of the receiving state regarding experience, degrees held, citizenship, and moral, ethical, physical, and mental fitness, and completion of any post-baccalaureate study required by the receiving Member.
